Dear baby ferris, last Sunday, your uncle YY asked me to research for crab restaurant to take his gf's family out for dinner. While researching, I came across this pot of crab bee hoon that ignited the craving for crab bee hoon.
So immediately I thought I'll text your grandpa that I kinda wouldn't mind some crab bee hoon.
Ok, fine, I texted your grandpa YOU wanted some crab bee hoon knowingyou are worth more than me (sob sob, I'm second class citizen now). What your grandpa replied utterly melt my heart and made me cry a little inside (because very touched, damn those pregnancy hormones). Here you
go:
In case you can't read Chinese characters yet, it goes;
Me: Dad, your grandchild wants to eat crab bee hoon. Can you take out for crab bee hoon tomorrow?
Grandpa: Whatever my 生命 (you) want, even if it is the moon in the skies, I'll do everything I can to give them to you.
Me: Wow! I'm so touched!
Yes, grandpa now addresses you as 生命. Which means life. Because you mean so much to him that he loves you with his life. So today, your grandpa took you (ok, me) for a daddy-daughter date with the best crab bee hoon in Singapore - only because you deserve the best.
During dinner, your grandpa gave me his share of the pincer and said he doesn’t want it. I know he's pretending because he wants to give you (yes yes, me) the nicer (and easier to eat) part. It's also my favorite part of the crab. It's rare we get to go out like this, just daddy and his only daughter.
We chatted extensively, about family, work and you. It was one of those great bonding meal that I took a step back and reminded myself I am also so lucky to have such a great dad.
No food wasted! My belly was hard like a basketball. Hope your 16.5 weeks self enjoyed the crab bee hoon!
So today, baby Ferris, I want you to know that you are super lucky. You have the best damn grandpa in the world. You will have a few superheroes in your life, and your grandpa will be one of then. He's your super hero grandpa who is going to buy you all those things that daddy and mummy say no to (not just because he's richer than us), but he's going to pamper you because he loves so much you're up there with the rank of 生命. Your super hero grandpa is also going to tell you lots of stories about how he come from a very poor family and how eventually he become a successful businessman. Through him, you will learn the virtue of a fighting spirit, that hard work pays off and how to love God and people around you. Mummy had a great grandpa who I was lucky to spent 16 years of my life with before he passed on and I already know your super hero grandpa is going to to be even better.
You're a lucky lucky child. I'm sorry for tearing so much while writing you this letter but you are making my hormones really emo now.
Love you,
Mummy
